SlicketTicket.com (First Place Track I)

ST will be a website which will display sellers with their inventory of tickets and buyers with their price for which they are willing to pay for a ticket. All buyers and sellers will be posted and displayed in a CDA. Each CDA will be grouped using separate parameters including events (artists/teams), dates, venue and venue sections within the venue (upper level, lower level, general admission, box seats etc.). Once a user (buyer or seller) has searched for the exact event, they will then be able to enter a buy order (bid) or sell order (offer). For a buyer, once a buy order has been entered they will be able to either: buy tickets from the lowest priced seller (“buy it now”); negotiate a price with a seller; modify their buy order; wait for a seller to sell tickets at the buyer’s buy order price or; cancel their buy order. Once a seller has entered a sell order they will be able to either: sell tickets to the highest bidder (“sell it now”); negotiate a price with a buyer; modify their sell order; wait for a buyer to buy their tickets at the sellers sell order price or; cancel their sell order.

OffTheQuad.com (First Place Track II)

OfftheQuad.com is a daily e-mail that delivers unique lifestyle content to college students, specifically abou their campus. Each e-email will containg a short (approximately 250 words) and entertaining commentary about something that students would want to know. Off The Quad was founded in January 2010 by David Rich, and entered its pilot market in February 2010 at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Creating a subscriber base in the pilot market and evolving the model has included a focus on determining best practices regarding content voice; subject matter, delivery times; mechanisms, sign up methods, marketing; subscriber acquisition methods, website; email design, and advertising sales. Off The Quad will focus on 111 college towns that fulfill size and student type requirements. In a college town, 20% of the total town populations are comprised of college students and over50% of the local businesses are geared towards the campus population. The cumulative student population of these 111 college towns is 2,084,433. Off The Quad’s goal is to achieve more than 50% penetration of this student population, resulting in a target subscriber base of 1,103,782.

PsyGineering ™ (Second Place Track I &  1st Annual Tech Award: Psygineering)

PsyGineering™ in developing a brain-machine interface (BMI) platform, known as PsyBox™. This platform will integrate existing neural sensors with a multitude of applications within multiple target markets. PsyBox eliminates the need for physical movement to control the wheelchair and thus allows greater freedom and independence. PsyBox utilizes a brain-machine interface (BMI) system to control the wheelchair via electroencephalography (EEG) neural signals from the user. PsyBox is a highly optimized modular controller that integrates the neural interface to the intended application, such as a wheelchair or data acquisition and control system.

MicroGlo (Second Place Track II)

MicroGlo is an Innovation Incubator of breakthrough technology. Our mission is to design, develop, validate, and either market or forge alliances for innovative patentable technologies that are solution driven for business and residential use; to be known for superior quality and excellence in our products and services; and to build synergistic business-technology relationships which bring value to our customers, employees, shareholders, and vendors. We are currently in the process of creating a prototype for a New York Stock Exchange company utilizing our patented fiber optic 360°radial illumination technology for use in transportation applications. The prototype is due to be completed by May.

Laptop Detector ™(Third Place Track I)

Approximately 230 million laptops were sold during 2008 with the accessed risk of those laptops being lost or stolen at a probability 1 in 10. This represents a major loss of assets with an impact of consequential damages exceeding the physical loss. Laptop Detector ™ mitigates this loss with the ability to locate and recover the physical asset upon unauthorized usage. The user of Laptop Detector ™ may also lockout the computer to stop access, destroy predetermined data so it may not be available to thieves and backup data remotely while in the hands of the unauthorized user. The expansion of cloud computing is expecting to create an explosive growth of remote net-books throughout the world.

A multi-channel retailer initially online, the company is the first organic beauty retailer to sell over 1,500 products AND to manufacturer an organic brand. Pure. Natural. Sustainable. P’avana is the source for PURE beauty in harmony with nature. The niche is exclusively offering only organic and natural world renowned products. P’avana brands are certified organic and created with fresh ingredients from nature in their raw PURE form – not essences.
